Three Checks Before Sharing a Viral AI Video
A practical routine for checking the origin, context and credibility of eye-catching clips.
A convincing video is not necessarily an authentic one. Before sharing a dramatic clip, take a few minutes to investigate.
1. Find the original source
Look for the earliest credible upload, the person or organization behind it, and whether the video has been edited or reposted without context. A familiar logo alone is not proof of authenticity.
2. Reverse-search a clear frame
Capture a distinctive frame and try Google Lens or another reverse-image search tool. You may discover an older version, a different location or an unrelated event. No match does not prove a video is genuine.
3. Cross-check the claim
Look for independent reporting, official records or first-hand evidence. Be especially careful with clips that create urgency, anger or pressure to act immediately.
